Bronze medal for ENGLAND R.U.

Started by: GOLDEN BEAR (6556)

So the curtain came down last night on ENGLANDS R.U.W.C. With a win against Argentina 26-23 to therefore clinch the third place in the competition . I appreciate there are not many R.U fans on the site but for the few that are ,how do you think that ENGLAND have faired??? Overall i think they have done reasonably ok considering were they were a few moths earlier . I don't think many people gave them a chance . Then there was talk that they in an easy group ,even though one has to get thro them easy or not , i also think that there have been some positives to come out from the series and this will prove them good in the future .
On tonight's final between ALL BLACKS v SOUTH AFRICA , those are the two teams that were my prediction to reach the final . So now i will pick the team i hope and want to win and that is THE ALL BLACKS , so best of luck lads .

Golden Bear,
I watched the match from start to finish and thoroughly enjoyed it. But, I felt that England played better against South Africa, especially in the first half of that match.
To be honest, Argentina played well and extremely well at certain moments of the match; they moved the ball with speed and ease causing problems for England with one movement resulting in a try.
But, the greatest highlight for me was that charge down followed by a try.
After the England vs. South Africa match and all the issues, I hope the All Blacks win. Additionally, I believe that the will!

I think England did not do very well in the competition.I now enjoy RU more than league but that may be because three of my grandsons play union but still find the rules very complicated.

A game where only true Union supporters know what is actually going on while many in England just go for the big occasion of swigging Guiness and the singing of the "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" slave song.

Not my kind of Rugby!

It's like watching rugby league in slow motion

Bore fest zzzzzzzzz
And what’s this all about,
Ref passes to TMO who passes to the “bunker”who makes a decision 10minutes later, passes back to referee, who tells a player he is sent off

Thanks for that ,Ianp/retep1949
I watched the final and was totally disgusted at the sending off , ive looked at it time and time again and for me it did not merit a red card ,and as for the spectacle for me it took the shine of it , obviously my team ALL BLACKS just failed with the last goal atempt , but there you go ,i think S. Africa werE ok,, but the with England i thought they got away with that , and so too the final .

Golden Bear, I also watched the final and felt that the tackle did not merit a red card.
Also, the aggressive tackle by the South African player, which earned him a yellow card, was possibly a deliberate head-to-face tackle. As we witnessed, no further action was taken.
The All Blacks had their chances and really should have wrapped the game up. Some loose handling of the ball by the All Blacks only helped South Africa to maintain their position and it gave them hope; possibly, kept their spirits up.
Those two missed kicks undoubtedly lost the All Blacks the game. If only one had put points on the board, I couldn't have seen South Africa coming back.

With the amount of ball gained by the All Blacks from lineouts, they should have won easily, but they did not as they are no longer the forcre they used to be in World Rugby Union as other nations have got stronger.

And South Africa may now be stronger due to the inclusion of black players which has seen them win the trophy a record four times since Mandela was released.

The same has happened in Cricket with South Africa becoming stronger with inclusion of black players, especially seam bowlers.
